The Pohutukawa tree, also referred to as the New Zealand Christmas Tree because it reaches it's peak flowering period in late December. It's natural habitat is the coastal regions of the north island of New Zealand, and for me especially, signifies that summer has well and truly arrived.
I've had this idea down on paper for quite a while now (read: several years), so I took the opportunity recently to finally give it a crack.
The original intent is that each image would be separately printed on tile or canvas and mounted separately on the wall in the grid pattern, but for display purposes this gives you the general gist.
