The only flying Mosquito in the world, on show at Warbirds over Wairarapa this past weekend. As of January 22nd, it will be packed up and shipped off to the US as part of a private collection.
I've always loved these plains, I even made a balsa wood glider of one once, took ages but it flew pretty dam good
I wonder if this is the Mosquito scheduled to fly at the Hamilton airshow this summer. Not many of these flying! Is this the only one? Beautiful picture, and good timing as far as lighting is concerned as well.
Oh my, I didn't know any of these things were still in the air!
Just this one now, it's just finished being rebuilt
be nice if we get to see it,,in the uk, nice shot,,,
I think the next rebuild is going to the UK... (but don't quote me on that)
Sadly we will not, there was once a plan to ship her here before making the trip to Virginia, however best laid plans and all that, it is heading straight to the US. There are rumours that another Mosquito, which is not too far off flight will be heading to the UK though so fingers crossed that those rumours are true.
I can't wait until it arrives over here in Virginia. I live right near the museum its being shipped to so I'll be able to see it up close in person and get some amazing pictures of it as well.
Great aspect and image.
I didn't even know there were any Mosquito's left in flyable condition!
I was so glad I got to see that Mosquito flying -- was there on the Saturday. Loved the sound of it when it was going fast and such a beautiful plane! I took hundreds of photos but not sure I got any as crisp as this. Lovely shot!
Thanks very much, apparently it was a record crowd - I suspect purely because of the mosquito!
This shot is quite frankly stunning. Wow!
